ARMY NETBALL TRAINING

ARMY NETBALL ASSOCIATION TRAINING SESSION SATURDAY 8 TO SUNDAY 9 FEBRUARY 2014

1. Introduction. As a follow on from last weekend’s successful Army Netball Association’s (ANA) training and fixture weekend the next fixtures and training weekend will take place from Sat 8 to Sun 9 Feb 14 at the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre (AGSC), commencing at 0900hrs on Sat 8 Feb 14. On Sunday ANA will host Thunderbirds Netball Club who competes in the Berkshire premier league and the ANA Development squad will play Farncombe Netball Club. The first match against Thunderbirds NC will commence at 1045hrs and the second match against Farncombe NC will commence at 1330hrs. Please note that the training session on Sat 8 Feb 14 will commence with a conditioning training session.

2. Inter-Service selection and attendance at ANA training sessions. ANA are the current holders of Inter-Service championships. The standard of players in the ANA is getting stronger year on year and consequently there is great competition for places to represent the Army in the annual Inter-Service championships which will take place in March 2014 at Aldershot. Whilst it is understood that, due to military commitments, not all players can attend all of the planned build up training sessions prior to the Inter-Service championships in Mar 14 a criteria has been determined to take into account military commitments. To be eligible for selection for the 2014 Inter-Service Netball championships the following criteria will have to be met:

• Must attend at least one of the planned ANA weekend training sessions.
• Officially selected by the ANA coaches to be a member of the 2013/14 ANA squad.
• Must be available (mandatory requirement) to attend the pre – Inter-Service training session 1 –4 Mar 14 at Aldershot.

Note: It is disappointing that some players who have been available for most of the Trg weekends have chosen to interpret the above as only having to attend one Trg weekend in addition to the mandatory pre-Inter-Service Trg weekend in March. The criteria above were intended to cater for those players who, due to military commitments and deployments, have only been available for the maximum of two Trg weekends. It was not intended as an excuse for those available to only attend the minimum of Trg weekends.
